Will the owners be able to attract a decent manager?
Yes, unlike the sports media, I know we are the 8th/9th biggest club in England on turnover/wages. Yes I know top ten finishes are not the work of BFS genius. And yes I know moving to the OS gives us enormous potential. But would a top rate manager want to work with Gold and Sullivan? I don't like BFS but they have handled his situation very poorly, effectively helping to ruin the end of the season. If they cannot replace him they should offer him two more years and stop this nonsense repeating itself. And it pains me to say that. Sensible owners are seen and rarely heard.

Add Big Eck to that lot.
He's waiting in Belgium for the call from Sullivan.

You think I'm joking don't you?

Bilic,
DeBoer
Cocu
Howe
RAFA
Klopp
O'Neill
Biesla

However I don't have much faith in the board. In fact I have zero.

Re: Will the owners be able to attract a decent manager?
They sacked Zola because guess what? Yes he ended a season like BFS is doing right now [ except that we are at least safe unlike Zola taking us to the wire ]. Then they kept hold of Allardyce last season because changing manager was no guarantee of safety [ so reasonably good judgement there ] and now they will not renew his contract.

I still think that they will be cautious in selecting a replacement [ Learning from the Grant experience ]. Anyway if you've got over your hysterics perhaps you'd venture to name a suitable replacement.

Listening to other people's opinions probably isn't for you.

Re: Will the owners be able to attract a decent manager?
All depends on their 5 year plan, transfer budget and whether they can give assurances not to freelance with transfers, IMO. A big time manager will want a lot of funds and won't want Sullivan taking punts on players. Don't think that's acceptable behaviour for the chairman of a big club. If you have a top man running the football side, then you keep your nose out and let them get on with it.

I hope we don't get any of the bigger names we're linked with because I don't want another 'regime' dropped into the club. I'd like us to hire a good coach and some sort of technical director to oversee the health of the football side of the club.

BFS was the right appointment 5 years ago.... we just don't need him now!!

Re: Will the owners be able to attract a decent manager?
learn from experience?

sack Zola, appoint grant as the cheap option(like they've done before), don't sack him and he relegates us ( they got Birmingham relegated more than once), appoint Sam
don't sack him last season (just like Grant) and now have speculation over his job ( just like last season or under Grant with MoN or under Zola).

You'll have to excuse me while I take a minute to stop laughing.

Re: Will the owners be able to attract a decent manager?
Perhaps they are learning through experience. After all they chose correctly to get us back up forthwith and into mid table.

Naturally if they listened to some of the wilder speculation about who next to recruit it could be dangerous but let's have faith in the owners making the right choice as replacement.

Their managerial record is laughable.

Why would it change?

Re: Will the owners be able to attract a decent manager?
The money they are paying Sam (plus a little more) and the OS plan (bigger transfer budgets, European football etc) should be more than enough to secure a top level manager.

I don't know why but I just have a feeling we will all be pleasantly suprised.

Re: Will the owners be able to attract a decent manager?
It is essential we recruit a known better manager and not one we take a punt on. Fwiw I make t&p2 wrong when saying the owners have handled things badly. BFS has delivered his brief and will part company at the end of his contract.

I'd rather the owners we've got than the alternative Oligarchs, Arabs, Potentates or Yanks.

I don't get the Bilic love in. Benitez just bores me. But why did Klopp quit?

Re: Will the owners be able to attract a decent manager?
"Show me the money" and yes they can attract a top manager.

The problem Is that even top managers sometimes do not work out, its a gamble 50/50 box of chocolates and all that.

It's 6 weeks money to pay Sam off, end of. Just put the fucker out of his misery and let us enjoy at least one game with that cunt on the sidelines bringing us all down. I can't believe he has one supporter left so no problems there.

I see Tuchel is replacing Klopp at Dortmund. No surprise there, good appointment for them.

Benitez or Klopp, offer them £4m a year plus bonuses, big rise for Benitez and massive rise for Klopp. It's a drop in the ocean considering the players they could attract.

Still don't see the Bilic attraction, 1 season with us, fucked off for more money at the first opportunity and no success as a manger compared with them 2. Can't see he's a step forward to be fair but I know he has his supporters.

I still think the board see Moyes and Benitez as the favoured options.

icwhs, I just think Bilic would be a good option in my opinion, he's got some good all round experience now, I liked him as a player for us before he ran off to Everton.

I think though that Klopp would be absolutely perfect fit for our club, I think we could get him too!

Re: Will the owners be able to attract a decent manager?
Not just a question of ATTRACT but also HIRE ie pick a decent manager. After Avram and BFS I do have concerns regarding who they'd hire.
